PARATAC is NSF HX-1 registered for use in lubricants with incidental food contact.

While PARATAC 178 is a very good product, it is Tri-iso's opinion that Functional Products V-422 is a much better option.  Functional Products V-422 is also a tackifier based on a high molecular weight polyisobutylene (PIB) dissolved in a white mineral oil.  2300-3800 cSt @ 100C, Flash Point: 150C. Specific Gravity 0.84. Recommended as an alternative to PARATAC 178.  Recommended to provide adherence in slideway oils and chain lubricants, stringiness in greases, and aerosol resistance in mist and pneumatic-system lubricants.  Functional Products V-422 is NSF HX-1 registered for use in lubricants for use in incidental food contact.

Functional Products V-422 provides equivalent performance to PARATAC 178 at a lower price-point.  Moreover, Functional Products is customer-service oriented and is focused on solving customer technical problems, even if it requires a custom solution.  Functional Products offers a wider range of tackifiers than any other company.  Functional Products are the experts on tackifier chemistries and they authored the chapter "Tackifiers and Antimisting Additives" in the reference book Lubricant Additives: Chemistry and Applications, second edition, edited by Leslie R. Rudnick.
