Hydrocarbon Tackifier Resins
Hydrocarbon Tackifier Resins are thermoplastic resins that promote adhesion and tack in hot melt and pressure sensitive adhesives. These tackifying resins impact the final adhesive's color, stability, and odor. Formulators select the appropriate hydrocarbon tackifier resin for their application by considering the softening point, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, and composition of the tackifier.
- The Sukorez hydrocarbon tackifier resins are hydrogenated hydrocarbon resins. Most of these products are supplied as water-white beads, although a few grades exist that are offered with a low color. These products are soluble in primarily non-polar solvents, and can be characterized as having mid-low aromaticity.
- The Hikorez hydrocarbon tackifier resins are aliphatic hydrocarbon resins. These products are higher in color than the Sukorez products. These products are soluble in primarily non-polar solvents, but are soluble in butyl acetate, end ethyl acetate. The Hikorez products can be characterized as having mid-low aromaticity.
- The Hikotack hydrocarbon tackifier resins are aromatic hydrocarbon resins. These products are considerably darker than both the Sukorez and Hikorez products. These products are soluble in a wide range of non-polar and polar solvents, and are characterized as having high aromaticity.
