Chain Extenders and Curatives
Tri-iso distributes a wide range of chain extenders and curatives that allow formulators to produce high quality polyurethane elastomers. Chain extenders are low molecular weight (short chain) diols and diamines. Chain extenders align themselves with the stiff and largely immobile hard segments in polyurethane elastomers (reacted chain extenders and polyurethanes). Curatives are high functionality polyols and amines (functionality greater than 2) which act like crosslinkers between the coiled soft segments in polyurethane elastomers (high molecular weight polyester or polyether polyols) and the hard segments of the polyurethane system. The interaction between the soft and hard segments in a polyurethane elastomer is what provides the desirable physical properties such as elasticity, tensile strength, tear resistance, and elongation.
