Balanced Catalysts

Tri-iso distributes a wide range of balanced catalysts that allow formulators to produce high quality polyurethane systems.  Catalysts are chemicals that reduce the energy of activation, allowing reactions to occur faster and at lower temperatures than otherwise possible.  Catalysts do not directly participate in the reaction, and remain unchanged in the system once the reaction is complete.

Balanced catalysts for polyurethane systems have balanced selectivity for both the reaction of the isocyanate with hydroxyl groups, and the reaction of the isocyanate with water to produce foam.  When formulating a polyurethane foam system, it is important to have the correct ratio of gelling and blowing catalysts.  If the ratio of gelling and blowing catalysts is incorrect, the foam will either lack physical integrity, or will be too dense.  Utilizing a balanced catalyst helps simplify the formulating process.
